Description (short summary):
VPHOP or Osteoporotic Virtual Physiological Human is a European osteoporosis research project within the framework of the Virtual Physiological Human (VPH) initiative.
The goal of the VPHOP project is to develop, validate and deploy the next generation of personalised multiscale modelling technology, which could radically change the way osteoporotic fractures are dealt.
This innovative technology is based on conventional and modern diagnostic imaging methods, plus daily activity monitoring that makes it possible, in a clinical setting, to assess for each patient individually:
In fact, the worldâleading predictive models at the body, organ, tissue, and cell levels developed within the project by various academic partners are able to predict the loads on the bones and the progressive changes to the tissue properties, the structure and, ultimately, the fracture risk over time, as well as how treatments, both pharmacological and interventional, might modify these risks.
