Description

Space Downstream Services 2010 Conference - Boosting the Competitiveness of Business & Science: Satellite Services in Modern Society

The event intends to stimulate new partnerships and join forces in the satellite services sector and to demonstrate how they contribute to sustainable economic development of the regions. It will bring together researchers, market specialists, business executives, government representatives and leaders of regions.

The conference agenda contains discussions and information exchange on the challenges ahead from the user perspective. Distinguished speakers will present possible solutions provided by existing and planned space applications in the areas of earth observation, satellite positioning and navigation.

The conference will also elaborate on platforms like GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security) and how to integrate regions into the GMES Programme. The in-depth discussions will deal with LBS (Location-based services) business opportunities, understanding the needs of users, and creating revenue. Specific sessions in the conference will be devoted to benefits from the European flagship Galileo and to the collaboration with ESA (European Space Agency). The conference will celebrate the foundation of the Estonian Space Society, honorary member nominations, and the introduction of the Estonian Space Downstream Strategy.

The final programme may be viewed here. Around 200 participants are expected to take part to this open event. Registration is free of charge till 3 April 2010 and can be performed online. A fee will be applied for late registration.
